Oksana Grigorieva, Mel Gibson’s ex and mother of Gibson’s child, filed Chapter 13 bankruptcy in California. Grigorieva and Gibson went through an explosive child custody war in which she was awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars. But recently she claims she has fallen on hard times and only has $10 to her name.
According to documents related to the case, Grigorieva has roughly $48,000 in assets but has outstanding liabilities in the amount of $438,000. She claims in the last 6 months she only received $200 in royalties as a singer. She has paintings listed as works of art with an asking price of $500.
A large portion of her liabilities is related to legal debt in which she owes roughly a quarter-of-a-million dollars to 5 different law firms. During her epic custody battle she hired and fired over 40 attorneys. The custody war ended with a settlement in which Gibson agreed to pay Grigorieva $750,000 in installments with the last payment to be made in 2016. She receives $20,000 a month in child support for their daughter Lucia.
Other income includes a $2,500 per month child support payment for her son, Alexander she has with actor Timothy Dalton. Some expenses listed in court documents include $80 per month for home security and $90 per month for “Golfer Patrol.” She also has a piano worth $5,000. Another portion of her liabilities include credit card debt in the amount of $150,000. In 2010, Grigorieva had the option to take a $15 million settlement originally offered by Gibson but she turned it down.
